Klein Profijt

A nice walk of 2.3 km along Het Spui brings you to Klein Profijt.
Klein Profijt is one of the two visitor centers of the Hoekschewaards Landscape (HWL) association.
Here, in the green of the outer dike area, your discovery were the Hoeksche Waard national landscape begins.
The visitor center houses permanent and changing exhibitions related to the flora and fauna of the Hoeksche Waard.

Tiengemeten

Just a few km from the Randstad is Tiengemeten. An island in the middle of the Haringvliet, former arm of the North Sea. The ferry takes you in ten minutes to this island full of untouched wilderness and old-fashioned countryside. Tiengemeten is a true cycling and walking paradise. Stroll through the rugged nature of the Wilderness in the west of the island. Thanks to a large creek that is connected to the Haringvliet, you can experience the tides here. In the Oude Polder, on the eastern point of the island, you will enter a completely different world. The nineteenth-century farming landscape revives here. In the center of the island you walk through an open swamp landscape. In winter this is one large water plain with waterfowl in all shapes and sizes. In the summer the puddle falls dry. Then you come across birds like the avocet and the wader, in search of food.

Rotterdam

Rotterdam just a 25 minute drive away. The city is also easily accessible by public transport. Visit the Highligts of the city, The Erasmus Bridge, Markthal, Blijdorp, numerous museums etc. etc. For all highlights, visit the Rotterdam Tourist Information website.

Willemstad

 

Only a 25-minute drive from Oud-Beijerland and definitely worth visit it. This fortified town on the Hollands Diep has an interesting history. Follow in the footsteps of important princes and conquerors and imagine yourself on a turbulent battlefield as a friend or enemy, between water and fortresses. Discover Dutch history from the Mauritshuis visitor center, stroll through the old streets and enjoy culinary delights on one of the many terraces at the picturesque harbor.

Zeeland

 

Zeeland, the land that is literally in the sea. There is more water here than land. Zeeland is an island kingdom. The coastline here winds for 650 kilometers along dikes, dunes, bays and dams. And day to the beach, a walk through the dunes or visit one of the many picturesque villages such as Zierikzee and Domburg.
